We are Southwest Louisiana's largest privately owned Sober Living community, and we would like to share some information about us to you and any future clients about how we help rebuild lives, one day at a time! We currently have 30 houses, men and women here in the beautiful Lake Area & Sulphur , with a total of 190 residents, where we focus on recovery, the 12 steps and personal growth, with a program that has been proven to work with many successes over the past 15 years! It's a simple program that helps residents build relationships within the homes and work on building a strong foundation in their recovery. We have installed a buddy system so that the resident will never find themselves vulnerable when they venture out, so they can not only be held accountable of their own actions, but also of their housemates' actions. We also allow them limited exposure to the outside world by implementing restrictions for the first 30 days, but still allow the residents to venture out of the house to go to work, shopping, attend church( Celebrate Recovery) and family functions, NA or AA meetings or to maintain a close working relationship with their sponsor, something that we encourage as they start their journey in recovery. 

 

One aspect of Excelsior that we are very proud of is how we also help the residents rebuild their lives from the wreckage that they may have caused during their active addiction, and we are the only Sober Living Community on the Gulf Coast who performs these actions! We find that most residents come to us with hardly anything that resembles a normal life, and we help them gain the simplest things back that make them proud of themselves and the new life ahead: we will help the new residents to receive food-stamps, so they can have a hot meal. ID card and social security cards, to enter the working world again and earn an honest paycheck. Excelsior even helps out with job placement and transportation, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, so there should never be a reason why they can't get to and from whenever they need to go within Lake Charles and the surrounding area.  And as far as other amenities Excelsior provides for our clients are meetings that are within walking distance and transportation for meetings that are a little farther away. And our pride and joy are our fully furnished houses, which come with a television in every room, along with Wi-Fi, washer and dryers at every house, plenty of storage, kitchens with cupboards that are full of serving dishes, glasses and utensils and outside BBQ areas. Most houses have more than one refrigerator and freezer also, so once a client is established on residence, they will be able to enjoy their own home cooked meal!  

Now we at Excelsior know that everything comes with a price, but to establish residence with us is more affordable than most people can imagine. As far as the initial process goes, there is a $255 entry fee, which is broken down to a $100 admission fee, plus a payment of $155 for the residents first week's rent, with rent due every Friday by 7PM, for the amount of $155. But we also know that some people can be in a struggle at this time in their lives, so we work with everybody, case by case, by accepting partial payments up front and even providing indigent beds, just call us and explain to us the situation and we will work together to see how we might be able to accommodate our future client. And if a client wants to join us here at Excelsior, we just ask that they provide their own linens for a twin-size bed, toiletries and their own food, but if they aren't able to provide that, we will work our hardest to help them out as they start off a brand-new life here at Excelsior House, Lake Charles!
